The Fishing Families for Harpswell will hold its annual shore dinner to raise scholarship money for Harpswell kids. It’s a great fund raiser and a great time with great food. This occures at the Mitchell Field off Rte 123 in South Harpswell starting at 4 or 4:30. Check out this video they made a few years ago about the dinner: Click here
What’s with all those signs at the Cundy’s Harbor turn? Well it’s Cundy’s Harbor Days. Tomorrow’s the last day and I believe the day that Miss Cundy’s Harbor is crowned. They started this a couple of years ago and are keeping it up. So cheer’s to Cundy’s Harbor Days! Tomorrow is the blessing of the fleet. Some dress their boats up for the event….some just bring boats as is. It’s a good sight, anyway, so swing on by Watson’s wharf and watch the parade of boats at 8 a.m. I have to say that I am sorry that I missed the 5k run today. I was busy cooking blueberry muffins and making coffee. If they do the 5k run again next year, I will be there! Someone else will have to cook.
A busy weekend in Harpswell! The Harpswell Festival kicks off this weekend on Saturday, the 23rd, at 11 am. The Festival promises a day full of fun. The Harpswell Lobster Boat Races take place on Sunday starting at 10. A great vantage point for the boat races happens to be the same venue as the Festival; Mitchell Field off rte `123 in Harpswell. Come for the weekend or the day. It’s bound to be lots of fun. Check out the link: Harpswell Festival and Lobster Boat Races.
Thank you to my long time friend Brian Beard of Creative Images for taking some great new photos of the Inn. I also want to thank our neighbor John, a scallop draggerman, an off shore lobster fisherman and one heck of a photographer for lots of new water photos. We have replaced most of the home page photos with some of these great photos and we are working to get more new photos up soon. Thank you to Brian and John!
The Saxton family hosted a lovely dinner for the Harpswell Innkeepers last night at their newly built restaurant. The building is new and fantastic, but the food is the same great food at the same prices that we all loved when they were in their much smaller restaurant. (Their fish chowder is legendary.) Thank you Saxtons!
for the photographs of the inn.
